The River…

Inside the forests, I wandered

With wild animals

Hungary for food and life

They tried to suck my blood

And tear me down

I walked and walked

And sometimes I ran too

The mind was baffled

The body was tired

Life was aimless

My actions were pointless

I thought about the purpose of life

The reason for the wind flow

The falling of the rains

The azure sky

And then I met the flowing river

And I sat beside it

Looked at its water

In the night when the animals slept

I walked fearlessly in the forest

And when they woke up

They tried to kill me

And suddenly I saw

Water rushing

All the animals in the forest were drowning

And I was sitting on a tree

Watching the river.

  1. I like the feel of the poem, the sea, winds, animals, rains, sky, so many elements of nature. It’s beautiful! 💙
Also, the ending is a bit confusing. I get the feeling of some supernatural movie, like you are somehow able to control the flow of river! Like you are so connected to the nature that it works at your wish. 🤔 Or maybe you’re the son of Poseidon, the God of Sea. I read this in Percy Jackson. 😛 Am I guessing the right direction? Do let me know what was the actual thought behind this.

    1. Hi chandni…thank you for taking your time to read..I loved your interpretation. I wrote it on love. The wild animals here are people who at every stage of life criticize us. The river is the true love. True love here means the love which pushes you towards finding the purpose of your life. The man finds his purpose with the river. And the river with its unconditional love protects the man from the egregious world.

      1. OMG! That’s the deepest thing I have ever read. 😻 I am spellbound. This is soooo beautiful, Shreyans. How can you write like this? I really want to ask you one thing here. Did you imagine the scene first and then assigned a meaning to all the symbols? Or did you establish the whole moral of the story first and then designed a story around it? 😄 Either way, it’s the most beautiful thing, seriously.

        1. Hiii chandni…You have made my day by your appreciation..I am really glad that you enjoyed..I get inspired by emotions..in this one i wanted to write about love..which i feel should be..and i thought about the obstacles that come in one’s path to love…generally its people…and then i used them as wild animals…the wandering of the man is his life…love is his purpose..and the river is his love..which saves him from the egregious world..showing the power of true love….
thank you so much dear….for giving your time to read..I hope you understood what you were asking..And i hope i did justice to this…thanks again..keep writing

          1. Haha, nai, you made my day by such a beautiful and intense poem. 🌼 Wow, yes, I understood now. Thoughts first and then the story, so you need to have one clear idea about what you want to convey and then you create a story. That’s very interesting. ☺

Haha, no thankyou for time. It’s for my own profit. The more I’ll read, the more I’ll be able to have ideas to write, hehe. 😹 So, I am doing myself a big favour when I read your works. 🌼 You wrote veryy well, please write more such things that challenge me. 😛
